SPRING 2009 Dear Friends and Supporters, Spring has arrived in full sight with flowers blooming and sound, as the song birds return. We are excited as we embark on many new projects at New Generation. The Second Generation Thrift Shoppe in Seabrook, which opened in March 2009, is providing shoppers with new spring fashions and New Generation with new friends and volunteers. Janet Hamilton, our Retail Manager, now of three stores was named Employee of the Year in December 2008. Elaine and Carrie worked to support Janet’s efforts in Seabrook, while continuing to create a shoppe that sparkles in Greenland and Bev and Michelle continue to energize our sales in Rochester. We appreciate our shoppers and volunteers for your friendship and donations. New Generation’s shelter has four residents and two newborns. We have two expectant mothers who are working and healthy while they await their due dates of July and October, respectively. We are excited to announce the New Gen has a team of moms, babies, and friends who are marching on May 16th in Portsmouth with the March of Dimes. Won’t you join us; sponsor our walkers or show up to cheer us on? We would love to see you. Annemarie Cullen, RN, recently joined the staff as our House/Resident manager. We are thrilled to have her expertise and enthusiasm for our program. It is a time of planning for our ‘greening’ of the grounds through the first community garden which will provide us with fresh fruits and veggies throughout the season. Our rainwater collection barrels will soon be reinstalled to help offset the water needs of our veggie garden and around the property. New Generation strives to continue its goal of recycling and careful use of all energy sources. Our annual auction will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 6:00 PM at the Ashworth in Hampton. This year’s theme: Striving To Achieve Results (STAR) will celebrate the ‘stars’ in our program. So mark your calendars and join us for fun, friendship and celebration. Hope to see you there.
Warmly, in the sunshine of spring, Kelsi
