January 2009
Dear Friends and Supporters,
It is winter in New Hampshire. This year has brought us cold, very cold weather, in fact, a bitter ice storm that caused us to move all residents and babies out of the shelter as we lost power like most of the state for many days. We thank all who jumped in to offer help during the desperate situation.
In November, our Dot Smith sponsored a successful fundraising 50’s Dance. All in attendance had lots of fun and new friendships were made…they can’t wait 'til the next one, Dot, are you listening?
Toys for Tots brought the annual reunion for former and present residents. Of course, Santa and his helper were here to ensure that each child received gifts and had a picture taken. The party was great and the food was delicious. The staff did a superb job organizing such an important event.
Joan Ouellette, our Parent Educator continues to provide valuable information, an attentive ear, and lots of hours with each resident to make sure that she (the mom-to-be) ‘knows’ what is going on with her body, the baby, and then after the birth, to give advice and help. We are blessed to have her.
Starting February 2nd, Operation Frontline will be offering a 6-week course for our residents. It is a program that teaches cooking-based nutrition and financial planning.
Lisa Vincent, our new Director of Fund Development and Fundraising is eagerly setting up for our annual auction in April. Please feel free to lend a hand, as we want this to be the best auction ever!
Please know that we send a big THANK you to those who support us. We truly appreciate all donations and volunteers; we could not offer the excellent program to those most in need without you.
